ECUST, FGL Co-work on Seminar

A group of professors, scholars and industry people from chemical sciences gathered in ECUST Xuhui campus on 25th this month to join a two-day Sino-French Workshop on Education and Research.

This event was co-organized by Fédération Gay-Lussac and East China University of Science and Technology based on years of collaboration both academically and scientifically, and it became a flourishing routine after the 1st workshop held in Toulouse France in 2011.

Guests attending the workshop included the newly inaugurated President of FGL Jacques Mercadier, Vice President of Research and Innovation Division of Solvay Asia-Pacific Pascal Metivier and Director of Changshu Research and Development Center of ARKEMA Group Denis bortzmeyer.

The chief mission of the workshop is to share experience in engineering education and scientific research within chemical sciences, and this gathering has been working as an effective platform to pool resources for a greater international exposure and impact.

For many years, ECUST has maintained a close relationship with French universities and companies. Since the first batch of students were admitted in September 2009, the on-going 3+3 double degree student program cooperating with FGL, the French association of 19 engineering schools specialized in chemistry and chemical engineering, has carried out quite smoothly. This program was believed to have been strongly supported by FGL and its industry partners as Rodia Group (now known as Solvay) and Arkema Company, aiming at developing students’ core competitiveness and preparing them for a promising future.
